Medical Assistants are trained to draw blood, while LPNs administer medication, provide wound care, change dressings, perform catheterizations and collaborate with the health care team to develop a plan of care.
Medical Assistants are trained thoroughly in front-office procedures such as recording medical histories, vital statistics and test results in medical records. LPNs are not. MAs interview patients to obtain their medical history versus an LPN, who responds to patient calls and assisting with daily life activities.

Medical Assistants work under the care of Physicians and other Healthcare Providers. A Clinical Medical Assistant focus on the care of the patient and administer to them with tasks such as medication, taking vital signs, and other clinical tasks. If you choose to go more of the Clinical Medical Assistant route, you will be in charge of gathering insurance information from the patient, filling out patient information, making appointments, and other office work.

Medical Assistants and Licensed Practical Nurses are both prestigious positions in the medical field that will always be in high demand. This is my opinion. I agree with you, I am currently a Medical Assistant student at the moment and I love it so far but I think everyone want to be called a nurse because it sounds good. MA schedule is better than an LPN my opinion.
In my state as an Lpn we can almost do anything except starting blood transfusions, an initial assessment and a few other things. We work in hospitals right along with RNs. I guess each state is different, I have friends who work in hospital, long term care, and so on. Horrible for what I do each day. If anyone is thinking of medical assisting then you wont be making any money. I am in nursing school now. Most hospitals are now only hiring BSN.
I need your suggestion. Hope for your positive react. CMA is not even a stepping stone to a nursing profession. The same can not be said about a CMA. You must be logged in to post a comment.
